A House with a Past
Bentley Boarding House sits within Old North Davis—one of the city’s earliest residential neighborhoods, first developed in the 1910s as Davis grew from farmland into a small university town.
The home itself dates to around 1910, built near the edge of what had once been the original Jerome Davis farm. At the time, this wasn’t the center of town—it was the edge of it.
Like many homes in Old North, it wasn’t built as part of a larger development. It was built to be lived in—practical, durable, and part of a growing community.
Over the decades, houses like this quietly adapted. Families came and went. Rooms were reworked. Uses changed. The neighborhood evolved without losing its shape.
Bentley Boarding House is part of that same story.
Not a recreation. Not a concept. Just the next chapter in a house that’s been in use for over a century.
